TECHNISOL ENVIRONNEMENT :: Phase II and III : Site Characterisation

Phase II and III : Site Characterisation

A Phase II site characterisation is conducted in accordance with CSA standard Z769-00. Its objective is to determine the concentrations and quantities of contaminants in soils by means of sampling. The results are then compared to standard criteria.

A Phase II characterisation begins by reviewing available information for a given site. It then proceeds with the development of a sampling program for soil, groundwater, or any other substratum, taking accepted guidelines into account. The entire process must be carried out following specific recognised protocol, most notably where chemical analysis of the results is concerned. This is also the case for the interpretation of the results.

Technisol Environnement Technisol Environnement integrates all results into a report:

  • Scope of work
  • Site description
  • Work description
  • Methodology
  • Comparative criteria
  • Final evaluation

The conclusion describes the state of soil and groundwater quality. If necessary, more detailed studies may be recommended in order to better delineate the extent of contamination. In Quebec, detailed environmental site characterisations of this type are known as Phase III.
